Rush Limbaugh on Tebow Win: Divine Intervention

By    |   Monday, 09 Jan 2012 01:49 PM

Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow’s upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night was inspired by divine intervention, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show Monday. Throughout his college football career and as a professional, Tebow has made no secret of his devotion to Christianity.

“If God decides to watch, who do you think he’s going to choose?” Limbaugh asked, paralleling the former Florida Gator to Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The overtime thriller ended in victory for the Broncos 29-23.

“The Steelers dared Tebow to beat them, throw the ball, and he went out and did just that,” Limbaugh said. “I was not surprised by this. I was surprised the Steelers came back and tied it in the second half.

“Everything they [the media] said he couldn’t do, he did yesterday, and he did it against the league’s No. 1 defense,” he said.

Switching gears to the topic of the weekend GOP presidential debates, Limbaugh said both were a disservice to Republicans — probably by design.

“What a joke,” he said. “What an absolute atrocity this was.”

Limbaugh said the questions focused on “the social-issue stuff” instead of the economy.

“Here we have the country, economically, in great peril, and the subject matter of the debate on Saturday night largely was the social issues,” he said. “There’s a strategic reason for that: That’s the Democrats and the media trying to portray all of these Republicans as wacko extremists.”
