French Wine for a Flat Belly

French Wine for a Flat Belly is the title of a new book published by Thomas Newman, available through SoftwareProjects.com or at FrenchWineforFlatBelly.com. Of course, that title seems contradictory. Most people feel that drinking alcohol is the last thing you should do if you want to avoid fat.

But if you stop to think about it, how is it that the French tend to be thinner than most of the rest of the world, and enjoy longer lifespans. The book explains that the reason is wine.

Specifically, French wine is good for losing belly fat because of the polyphenols in the wine, along with compound called ellagic acid.

French wines, in particular, tend to have higher contents of these two compounds, and therefore help to keep your belly flat. The book also gives data on other sources of the polyphenols and ellagic acid, including a number of vegetables and other foods.

Of the French wines, Pinot Noir has the highest content of polyphenols and ellagic acid, with Malbec coming in as the second highest. Other French wines — including Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and the white varietals — have lower levels

The book’s recommendation is a glass of one of the better wines twice a day, as a minimum. And there’s no restriction on drinking a little more than, within reason.

The book also gives some diet information, showing how you can achieve the same results without drinking French wine, if that is your preference.

I have written before about two types of microbes that are present in the intestines: firmicutes are the bad bacteria that cause deposition of fat; bacteroides are the bacteria that cause fat to be dissolved. The book goes further into how these two types of microbes affect belly fat.

In addition, the book explains the difference in the body between white fat, which is what tends to cause the prominent body and prominent thigh and butt; and brown fat, which tends to help dissolve the white fat.

There ae also data indicating that lower weight decreases the incidence of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), or “mini-strokes,” brief stroke-like attacks that resolve within a few minutes to hours. Also, with increased weight, there is a higher risk of Type 2 diabetes which can be controlled by getting back to a normal weight without the medications usually used to treat diabetes.

Such lifestyle changes will also result in less fatigue and better activity levels.

While the book recommends some minimal activity, the author insists you don’t have to join a gym and go do full cardiac exercises to achieve a flat belly and healthier weight.

Another interesting factor is that recent data have shown that if a person is overweight he or she tends to spend about $1,429 more per year more on medical problems than a person who has an ideal body weight. So normal body weight is not only important for your waistline, but for your pocketbook as well.

The addition of a couple of glasses of the better French wines as a part of your weight loss program is a very interesting concept — and will be very well appreciated by many people.
