Netflix star and sexual assault advocate Daisy Coleman's mother has taken her own life four months after her 23-year-old daughter died by suicide.

Melinda Coleman was found dead Sunday evening, according to The Sun. SafeBae, the sex assault prevention group Daisy started, announced the news in a statement to Instagram.

"We are in shock and disbelief to share with our SafeBAE family, that we lost Melinda Coleman to suicide," the statement read. "The bottomless grief of losing her husband, Tristan, and Daisy was more than she could face most days," it added, referring to the passing of her husband, who died in a car crash, and son Tristan, who also died in a car crash in 2018.

"Melinda was a gifted veterinarian, devoted mother and wife, and talented body builder," the statement continued. "More than anything, she loved and believed in her children. It is no accident that she created some of the most gifted, passionate, and resilient children. Our hearts are forever with Logan & Charlie," it added of her surviving sons.

Daisy died in August from a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained while talking to her boyfriend. Her body was found by police who had been asked by Melinda to conduct a wellness check.

Daisy had reportedly been struggling with mental health problems since she was raped at age 14 at a party in Maryville, Missouri, in 2012. The attacker was never convicted and Daisy was ruthlessly bullied at school and online after she pressed charges. Four years later Daisy starred in the Netflix documentary "Audrie & Daisy," which detailed her and Audrie Pott's sexual assault experiences.
