Diet Vital to Preventing Breast Cancer

Breast cancer was the first solid tumor in which cancer stem cells were found. Cancers — including breast cancer — are abnormal attempts by damaged stem cells to form an entire organ.

Interestingly, a single stem cell can form the entire mammary gland, demonstrating the incredible potential of stem cells for growth of organs.

In fact, the breast cancer tumor even resembles a crude mammary gland.

Diet is very important if you want to prevent breast and prostate cancers.

One study that used animals found that omega-6 fats — such as corn, safflower, peanut, and soybean oils — significantly increased the risk of breast cancer developing, and made it more likely to metastasize.

Omega-3 oils, on the other hand, suppressed breast cancer development, growth, and spread in the study. The researchers also found that if they fed the animals some omega-6 oils along with some omega-3 oils, it negated the protective effect of the omega-3 oils.

The ability of omega-3 oils to inhibit breast cancer growth and invasion was confirmed in other studies.

I prefer to use pure DHA or at least a high-DHA oil. One study found a synergistic anti-cancer effect when DHA was combined with curcumin, even with Her2-positive breast cancers, which are more aggressive than other types.
