In all my years of research, no other nutrient I have come across can help the body overcome as vast a number of issues as iodine.
In ancient cultures, iodine was consumed through seaweed and sea salt. Today, when people think of iodine, they probably picture “iodized” table salt, which is actually not a source of iodine at all.
So how can you get iodine today? Let’s take a look.
Luguls solution is a 2 to 5 percent solution — the amount of iodine in each drop. It is an inexpensive but effective way to get iodine in the body.
Nascent is a micronized version that is well-absorbed orally. This from is a little more expensive but is my favorite to use daily.
Seaweed and sea salt are honorable mentions in my book, as daily can help your body uptake and use iodine daily.
Detoxification. Iodine is anti-microbial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and immune supportive. It carries a negative charge in the body this negative charge attracts substances that have a positive charges like heavy metals and pesticides.
Metabolism. Iodine will increase your metabolic functions and improve weight loss and digestive health.
Hormonal health. Iodine aids in proper function of the thyroid, which is the organ that helps the body regulate hormonal building and metabolic functions. Every 17 minutes all the blood in your body circulates through the thyroid, so ensuring you have the proper amount daily is a must.
Immune health. Iodine acts as a shield to the body in multiple ways. It protects the thyroid from toxins in the environment. When the body begins to be saturated with iodine’s negative charge any positive toxin can’t suppress your immune system and make you susceptible to infections.
Topical wound care. Iodine has been used to clean wounds topically for a long time. Luguls solution is usually the form used in this way and any time you got a shot when you were a child they use an iodine wipe before injected the substance in the body.
Ways to Take Iodine
Internally. Taking a high quality nascent form every day is the best way to get it in the body. Make sure you get a blood test to see how much iodine you need. Iodine saturates the whole body so usually the bigger you are the more you need.
Topically. Put one drop on your tooth brush and brushing with it once a week helps keep the gums and teeth healthy. Rub a small amount over your thyroid gland or on the breast daily to absorb some in the body. In an emergency situation, wipe a wound to clean it can be useful.
Iodine is a powerful nutrient so you need to educate yourself on how to use it properly.
