Julia Louis-Dreyfus finished her second round of chemotherapy with a silly Instagram picture and shoutouts to singer Katy Perry and some of her co-stars on the hit HBO series "Veep."
Louis-Dreyfus, 56, announced last month on social media that she was battling breast cancer. The Emmy Award-winning actress said at the time that she was blessed to have the "glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends and fantastic insurance through my union."
On Thursday, she posted her Instagram update, dressed in a hoodie, dark glasses and a fake mustache, as she quoted Perry's song "Roar."
"Chemo #2: finito. We are NOT f***ing around here," Louis-Dreyfus wrote on Instagram. "'I've got the eye of the tiger. The Fighter dancing through the fire cuz I am a champion and your're going to hear me ROAR.' Thanks to @mrtonyhale & @timothycsimons & @katyperry for their hilarious and loving inspiration."
In September, Louis-Dreyfus won her record sixth Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy for the same role in "Veep," according to People magazine.
A source from HBO said that Louis-Dreyfus learned of her diagnosis the day after she won the Emmy, according to Vulture. The source said that while her diagnosis did not impact HBO's decision to make next season the last for "Veep," the network will delay production based on Louis-Dreyfus treatment schedule.
"Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time," HBO said in a statement, per Vulture. "We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of 'Veep.'"
She found plenty of support from fans on Twitter.
