Nutrients That Fuel Immunity

By Friday, 26 February 2021 04:18 PM Current | Bio | Archive

The majority of our immune system lives in our gut, which is why it is so important to maintain healthy gut flora through the use of probiotics and eating a diet full of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

Zinc, selenium, and vitamin C all play a major role in the support of a healthy immune system.

Zinc helps your body create new cells and protein which is important in fighting off foreign invaders.

Vitamin C and selenium are powerful antioxidants that help us fight off free radicals.

Vitamin C also helps us absorb iron that comes from iron rich plant foods, which is another key player in supporting a healthy immune system.

Our bodies are constantly fighting off pathogens and turning over new cells to keep us healthy. Supporting a healthy lifestyle with probiotics and major immune boosting vitamins and minerals like zinc, selenium, and vitamin C is a great idea during cold and flu season.

Wedderspoon Manuka Honey Immunity Gummies combine high-potency probiotics with vitamins and minerals derived from whole, natural ingredients. There are two types of gummies, both crafted with authentic Manuka honey. The Citrus gummy includes zinc, selenium, and vitamin C; the Berry gummy includes probiotics and vitamin C.

Both gummy options provide great immune support. The zinc, selenium, and vitamin C gummies may play a better role in recovery from an illness, while the vitamin C and probiotic gummies may play a better role in prevention of an illness — though both gummies provide excellent amounts of antioxidants which we know aid in the prevention of aging and illness as a whole.

You can take too much zinc if you consume 40 mg or more per day for a long period of time. Talk to your doctor if you are on prescription medication as zinc can interfere with the absorption of some medications.

Signs of zinc overdose include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
