Pain Relief Remedies for a Teething Baby

Babies are sensitive, and the process of teething can be really painful to them. The mother suffers as much as the baby, since she feels helpless in this situation. The good news is that there are different pain relief remedies that a mother can use for her teething baby.
Here are a few remedies that mothers can consider in providing pain relief to the baby:
Whenever we have a swollen ankle, we put ice on it to get pain relief. In the same manner, you can use cold things to help the baby get pain relief from the teething problem. You can take a wet washcloth and place it in the fridge for an hour in a plastic bag. When you give this cold cloth to the baby, you will notice that the baby enjoys chewing it. This makes the baby’s gums less sore and offers pain relief.
Pressure on the gums is also one of the pain relief remedies for teething babies. When pressure is applied on the gums, it distracts the baby brain from feeling the pain. If a baby rejects the cold cloth, a teething gum of room temperature could be given for pressure.

Some parents also use topical medication as one of the remedies. They apply a kind of gel on the gums of the teething baby. This is not a desirable remedy, since the teething baby may swallow the pain relief gel with saliva, which is not good for the baby. Parents should consult a doctor before they decide on such remedies to provide pain relief.
Tablets should be avoided at all costs for a teething baby, especially for kids under 3 months of age. If nothing else works, then tablets can be given to a teething baby for pain relief. There are some over-the-counter tablets that doctors recommend. These tablets are painkillers that help to avoid pain.
Many parents have tried homeopathy tablets and drops and recommend it vehemently for others. Doctors do not favor homeopathy tablets for a teething baby since the disadvantages may outnumber the advantages they claim in providing pain relief to a teething baby. Parents must consult a doctor before deciding on any tablet remedies to give pain relief to a teething baby.
