Flu virus spreads easy and fast, and hence preventing the flu is necessary. The best way for preventing the flu is to develop healthy habits and make them part of one’s lifestyle. Practicing basic hygiene like washing hands before every meal or using a handkerchief while sneezing avoid the spread of infecting viruses. It is important to inculcate healthy habits and maintain self-hygiene.
Improving our lifestyle routines does not only have long-term benefits of maintaining muscle and bone strength but also has short-term benefits like bestowing us with a stronger immune system. Stronger immunity further helps in preventing flu and other weather-related infections.

Why don’t some people get flu? There is no disputing the fact that a stronger immunity helps in preventing the flu. This can be gained by adapting simple lifestyle changes.
Diet: A balanced diet is a must in building stronger immunity. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamins and minerals should be included in plenty in your daily diet. Include all seasonal vegetables and fruits, which are rich and dark in color. Try and stick to the healthy habit of consuming nutritionally balanced and timely meals daily.

Exercise: Exercising is a great way to preventing flu and other diseases. When a person exercises, their lungs function better and avoid microbial infestation by making the body’s defense work better.
Hand-washing: Self-hygiene is essential. Wash hands every time before and after meals. Also, you must wash your hands whenever you get back home from outside. Hands are the most used organs and keeping them clean and germ-free is important for preventing flu.

Hygiene: You can easily contract flu while you are in public places. When a person, who is already infected and has been wiping and cleaning his nose, touches door knobs, supports on the side of escalators, light switches, etc., the virus in their hands sticks on to the surfaces they touch. When you touch the same things, you are prone to be infected. Carry wet tissues or hand sanitizers to clean your hands and keep them germ-free. Also cover your mouth while coughing or sneezing, preferably with wet towel or handkerchief. This helps curb spread of germs.
Relax, do yoga, and meditate: Stronger immunity resides not only on a stronger body but also on a calm mind. Keep yourself relaxed as stress is an immunity buster. Opt for daily yoga or meditation sessions to keep your mind calm. In today’s hectic lifestyle, destressing the body through massages, music, yoga, or by spending time with family is important.

Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can take a toll over your body’s immune system and both should be avoided. While smoking should be strictly prohibited to maintain a healthy lifestyle, alcohol consumption is allowed in limited and restricted amounts only.
Overall, stronger immunity is the main tool to fight infections. With healthy habits and proper self-hygiene, preventing flu and other infections can become much easier.
