Why Now Is a Great Time to Have Sex

Experts say that when this pandemic ends, we may see two things emerge on the domestic doorstep: more divorces and more babies. Being confined 24/7 with a spouse could KO a relationship while on the other hand, many couples are finding the imposed intimacy a great way to cope with anxiety and stress.

According to Alternative Daily, here some reasons why it’s a good idea to have sex during the crisis:

  • It can keep you calm. The act of intimacy activates the orbitofrontal cortex of the brain which rules feelings of reward and compassion. It also calms the cardiovascular system and triggers the release of oxytocin, often called “the love hormone.”
  • Sex boosts the immune system. A study published by The National Institutes of Health found that students who had frequent sex, once or twice a week, had 30% higher levels of immunoglobulin A, or IgA. IgA is the earliest line of defense your body has for fighting off viruses.
  • Revives your lagging libido. A passionate night can stimulate your sex drive and desire. According to Alternative Daily, its important to create the right time and setting for intimacy, spending more time on foreplay and perhaps adding sex toys to spice to your love life. Why not take this time in isolation to embark upon new sexual adventures?
  • Sex is exercise. With gyms closed and many parks and trails offering limited access, it’s hard to stay fit during a pandemic. Having sex raises your heart rate, and while it’s not the most effective calorie burner, you will use specific muscle groups during the act to help you stay in shape.

But experts warn that this advice is for couples only and casual partners should definitely observe the 6-foot social distancing rule which eliminates the notion of sexual intercourse.
