Quest Diagnostics on Tuesday said individuals can skip a doctor's visit and order a coronavirus antibody test online, making the clinical lab the first in the world to offer "at-home" antibody testing, reports MSN Now.

An antibody test shows whether someone has been exposed to or had COVID-19 and developed the antibodies to fight the infection.

The test will be available for $119, with results ready within one to two days after a blood sample is taken. The test can be ordered on Quest's website without visiting a doctor's office.

"With the introduction of this test and service, Quest is making it easy for people to access quality testing for antibodies to the virus which causes COVID-19, with access to physician interpretation and steering into needed care," Jay Wohlgemuth, Quest's chief medical officer, said in a statement.

"Our goal is to empower individuals and their physicians to make informed decisions about their risk of infection and of spreading the virus," he said.

LabCorp on Monday announced it was offering antibody testing at nearly 2,000 patient service centers, including LabCorp at Walgreens locations, at no upfront out-of-pocket costs to people who receive an order for a test through a doctor or healthcare provider.

"We are bringing the full force of LabCorp's science and testing capabilities to serve individuals across the U.S. whether they had the virus or believe they have the virus," LabCorp CEO Adam Schechter said.

CVS Health and Walmart are also prepping hundreds of parking lots and store drive-thru windows to test for the COVID-19 strain.
