Essential oils have been used for centuries to ward off and treat colds and influenza. According to Healthline, some of these oils have antiviral benefits, which can help kill nasty germs and treat infections. Essential oils are plant extracts that have been steamed or pressed to capture the concentrated compounds that can be powerful medicinal tools.

You can use the oils as a topical rub to ease aches and pains or in a diffuser to clean and purify the air.
