Men and women do not present with heart attacks the same way. For decades, we never knew that, because our medical establishment is male directed.
We now know a lot more about heart attacks in women.
Men present with left arm pain, crushing chest pain, sweating, and high blood pressure, while women tend to experience fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, and depression, as well as the symptoms men suffer.
So when a woman presents in a hospital emergency department with these symptoms and the doctor does not take them seriously, tragedy can strike.
That means it is up to you to take responsibility for making yourself heard and not allow the doctor to disregard your symptoms.
In fact, it’s easier to get an EKG and a simple blood test to rule out a heart attack than it is to send you home in error.
