Can I Treat My Arthritis Naturally?

By    |   Monday, 03 Mar 2014 04:19 PM

Question: Is there a drug-free alternative to managing my rheumatoid arthritis pain?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

Rheumatoid arthritis is an immune disorder that can destroy cartilage tissue and joints, as well as affect many organ systems. Treatment must be aggressive to reduce pain and other consequences of this serious disorder.

But that does not necessarily mean you need to be taking lots of medications. Many simple treatment options are now used to arrest this condition, and you should discuss these newer options with your rheumatologist.

Drug-free options are also available for pain management, including nerve or spinal cord stimulators, but you need to evaluate the risks and benefits of the alternatives in consultation with your primary physician and specialists.
