Why Do I Have Knuckle Pain?

By    |   Monday, 20 Apr 2015 10:52 AM

Question: In the past several months, a strange bump has appeared on just one knuckle in my right hand. It’s not from an injury, but it hurts. What could be causing this?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:

A bump on your joint that is painful should be evaluated further. You may have injured the joint and have a small fracture, a tendon or ligament injury, or crystalline deposits from gout or another arthritic disorder.

Remember that single joint involvement may reflect an inflammatory problem or an infection, and especially in a young person who is sexually active.
Time to see your doctor.
