Battling Mother Nature

When you are young, your skin is clear, your mind is sharp, you feel sexy, and you are fertile. All you need is a few solid nights of good sleep and a week of getting rid of junk food and alcohol, and your weight is back where you want it and you look like a million bucks.

That’s not what happens in our 30s and 40s, not to mention in the decades following. Dieting doesn’t work so well, sleep doesn’t result in the same glow, and regular exercise doesn’t deliver the same youthful cut muscles of yesterday. And to top it all, a nap suddenly becomes more appealing than a roll in the sack.

What happened? Simply stated, Mother Nature is turning us all into road kill. It sounds awful but it’s true. And the more honest we are, the more likely we are to find ways to prevent Mother Nature from throwing us into the gutter before we put up a good, victorious fight.

Mother Nature only has use for us if we have children. We are here to multiply. Once we start having periods in our teens, we ovulate and become fertile. Fertility is the main qualifier for being in first place on the food chain. Our immune system is strong, inflammation is low, and recovery from injury of any kind is amazingly fast.

Our hormones in balance support the reproductive activities that lead us to multiply. We fall in love, have sex, and produce children. Our children need us to raise them so until they are ready to take off on their own — not culturally speaking, but biologically speaking — we are still necessary. So our system still maintains hormones in balance. We can still lose weight on a rigid diet. We still have a functioning brain and occasionally even have interest in sex. But notice that the key focus is on raising children.

Once the kids are ready to fly the coop, we become obsolete and fall to the bottom of the food chain. Mother Nature gets rid of us by pulling out the hormones. How many of you went into menopause when your last kid went off to college? You thought it was stress or coincidence? Not so; Mother Nature has a plan.

Those beautiful hormones that made us healthy and sexy are now departing in droves, leaving us depleted, sweaty, fat, foggy, and wrinkly. Plus, we start suffering from chronic conditions like heart disease, cancer, stroke, arthritis, and others.
But, because we have the intelligence to put people on the moon and create the Internet, we also can fool Mother Nature.

All you need is the right combination of bio-identical hormones and a good doctor who listens to you and doesn’t think it’s all in your head. All you need to prevent disease and fight off Mother Nature’s plan is a great program that balances your hormones, a hormone-friendly diet, daily exercise, good sleep (only when your hormones are in balance can you achieve this), and lifestyle changes that actually are about you taking care of yourself. That is how you can tell Mother Nature to take a hike and successfully refuse to become road kill!
