Can Bed Rest Treat Migraines?

Monday, 30 September 2013 01:22 PM

Question: I have high blood pressure — 140/70 — and get migraines. My family doctor is suggesting I get bed rest to treat it. But should I do something else?

Dr. Hibberd's answer:
Change doctors FAST. He or she is out of touch with modern concepts of migraine, and no idea of correctly diagnosing hypertension either. Both conditions require treatment that goes beyond sampling getting more rest.
I rarely criticize another doctor like this, but you can do much better than this sad excuse of a family physician. Need I say more?

Migraines and high blood pressure require more involved treatment than simply getting more rest.
