Question: I’ve heard the new HPV vaccine may be risky for some people, so I can’t decide if should have my teen-aged daughters get it. What’s your take?
Dr. Hibberd’s answer:
The HPV vaccine is strongly recommended for all young men and women, especially teens. There have always been those who are against vaccination for various reasons, but avoiding this one may be a major mistake.
This is the only vaccine that has been shown to reduce the incidence of cancer as well as reduces the uncomfortable infections associated with HPV (human papillomavirus). I strongly recommend your teens receive this vaccine. My children all received HPV vaccination, and I strongly recommend you immunize yours also. What stronger recommendation can I make?
