Finding an Internist

Question: Do you have advice on how to find a good internist?

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

An internist is a physician specializing in the prevention, diagnosis, and nonsurgical treatment of diseases, usually in adults.

Contact your local hospital for a referral list of affiliated doctors screened for credentials in the specialty you wish. Often, friends will report their experience with their personal physicians so you might consider asking them for a recommendation. Beware of participating physician lists from insurance companies.
