Is HCG An Effective Weight Loss Supplement?

Wednesday, 21 July 2010 10:17 AM

Question: Could you please comment on using HCG to lose weight and fat? A couple of friends have been extremely successful.

Dr. Hibberd's Answer:

Using human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) for weight loss is not substantiated by any reliable data. I regard these treatments as modern day "quackery," and a hoax on the modern day health consumer. Government supported studies in Canada have recently stated that most diets are equally effective for weight loss as long as the patients do not abandon their goals prematurely. Discuss a diet with your physician first, then stick with it.
