Natural Treatments Aid Chemo

One of the most horrifying, and unfortunately one of the most common, tumors in neurosurgery is the glioblastoma multiforme. This highly malignant brain tumor affects the glial cells — the non-nerve cells of the brain. Most who are diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme will die within 18 months.
After 40 years of attempting to treat this nasty tumor with every conceivable traditional therapy, death rates have not budged. However, current research reports that this tumor can be killed or controlled with high-dose vitamin D3, along with plant flavonoids (curcumin, quercetin) and adhering to a ketogenic (high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate) diet. (To learn more about vitamin D3, read my special report "Vitamin D's Hidden Role in Your Health.")

These natural treatments are nontoxic, have few side effects, and have been shown to greatly enhance the effectiveness of conventional cancer treatments. For example, the following natural substances have all been shown to make cancer cells more sensitive to chemotherapy and radiation:
• Curcumin
• Quercetin
• Ellagic acid
• Green tea polyphenols
• Resveratrol
• DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)
At the same time, these natural therapies protect normal cells that surround the cancer, and shield the rest of the body from damage caused by the conventional treatments. This is especially important with the discovery that many chemotherapy agents damage the brain, particularly the parts that control learning, memory, and behavior.
One of the greatest fears for oncologists is that a patient’s tumor will suddenly become resistant to their current chemotherapy treatment, as well as all further chemotherapy — a process called multidrug resistance (MDR). When this occurs, the cancer not only begins to grow again, it grows much faster and becomes more aggressive. (For more information on fighting cancer, read my special report "Prevent Cancer Before It's Too Late.'')

What’s more, because chemotherapy has already damaged the patient’s immune system and weakened the other cells and tissues in the body, they are likely to die quickly once this resistance occurs. No drugs have been discovered that can reverse the MDR process. However, a number of plant flavonoids can reverse MDR and make a tumor once again highly vulnerable to death:
• Curcumin
• Quercetin
• Ellagic acid
• Vitamin D3
• Kaempferol
Using these natural plant extracts along with conventional treatments also allows patients to use chemotherapy agents in much lower doses, with equal effectiveness. This reduces the side effects of the chemotherapy such as progressive heart failure, kidney damage, nerve damage, and brain injury.
When I have used these treatments along with chemotherapy, patients remained free of the usual nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea that most experience when undergoing chemotherapy treatments.
