President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter Saturday the U.S. needs a travel ban as "an extra level of safety," following reports of a van mowing down pedestrians at London Bridge.
Trump also sent out a tweet sending out his support to the UK.
The bridge incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. London time. Police confirmed to the BBC there was more than one fatality and reports suggest there was more than one incident, including one of men carrying knives at Borough Market and another at Vauxhall.
Trump's travel ban has been stuck in the courts.
His administration on Thursday filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to reverse rulings by lower courts in Hawaii and Maryland that blocked a temporary ban on travel to the United States from six majority-Muslim countries.
