Huckabee: Those Waging Terror Attacks Are 'Subhuman'

(Fox News' "Fox and Friends")

Terrorists such as the one involved in Monday's attack in Manchester are "subhuman" because they "intentionally try to kill the most vulnerable among us," former Gov. Mike Huckabee said Wednesday.

"I agree with the president — you can call them losers; you can call them monsters; you can call them animals — they're subhuman," Huckabee told Fox News' "Fox and Friends" program.

"If you are in war with somebody, you go after the combatants. You go after the people who can do you harm. These girls couldn't harm anyone. They were just kids, and to intentionally try to kill the most vulnerable among us is just unspeakable and insufferable," Huckabee said.

Such attacks are cowardly, Huckabee said; "they are not intended to harm the political leaders" or people of authority, but instead "the weak, the vulnerable, the innocent," and the attackers target places where people should feel safe, such as a concert or a sporting event.

Fans of pop singer Justin Bieber are calling out for him to cancel his British tour for fears a similar attack could occur, Fox News reports, and Huckabee said such calls are the result of terror.

They want to "cause us to completely change our lifestyles, to make us live under the threat of these bullies, who make us basically hide and hibernate and run for cover in our daily lives," said Huckabee, interviewed while traveling in Israel.

"I'm standing here in Israel, and one of the things the Israelis have taught us is don't cower to the terrorists," said Huckabee. "If there is an attack in Israel, in a cafe at noon, by 4 p.m. they have mopped up all of the blood and they are open for business. Not because of the money, but they are open for business to basically say, 'You are not going to close us down and make us stop.' That's important to do."

There are also calls for people to say something if they see something, said Huckabee, but many times people don't because they fear being called a "bigot."

"We have to remember all of these people are recruited to believe there is some high and noble purpose that they're serving by doing," said Huckabee. "People don't do these kind of crazy things because they think it will earn them an ice cream cone. They think it's going to give them eternal life."
