Walt Disney World was one of the potential targets scouted out by Omar Mateen, the terrorist who shot to death 49 people at an Orlando gay nightclub,
The Wall Street Journal reports.
Two officials briefed on the investigation said that the visit to Walt Disney World was not in the hours before the shooting.
People.com reports that a federal law enforcement source said that Mateen's wife Noor Zahi Salman told investigators the couple visited Walt Disney World in April and that her husband recently scouted out Disney Springs, as well as the Pulse nightclub that was the scene of the attack.
Disney Springs does not have security checks before entry, unlike the four other Disney World theme parks in the Orlando area, which have had metal detectors since last year.
Security has been beefed up at the four Disney parks since the nightclub attack,
The Inquisitr reports.
Guests have said there are extra long lines to get into the parks as everyone is now required to go through the metal detectors, as opposed to random screening that took place before the massacre.
