Nikki Haley: Trump Inciting 'Dangerous' Division of Hate

Nikki Haley: Trump Inciting 'Dangerous' Division of Hate

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is creating a "division that is dangerous" within the Republican Party that has hate attached to it, South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley told a group of Florida retirees.

"After seeing what happened in Chicago. After seeing what happened in North Carolina, after seeing what happened in Ohio, we are seeing a division that is not us," Haley told a county GOP dinner at The Villages retirement community on Saturday, according to Mother Jones.

"That is not who we are as Republicans. And we are seeing a division that is dangerous. We are seeing a division that's got hate to it," Haley said.

Haley, who is campaigning for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, noted that she and other Republicans were part of communities coming together in her state after the police shooting of Walter Scott, a black man, in early 2015 and a mass shooting at Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston.

"And that was showing — we didn't protest; we solved the problem, and we got it right and we did it together," Haley said.

Haley said Trump is not bringing people together, but "he's telling his supporters to punch a guy in the face! He's telling them if they don't do the right thing to carry him out on a stretcher. He's telling them to say, do it again. He's not denouncing the KKK when this is exactly the same group that protested on my statehouse grounds. We can't have Donald Trump as president! We can't."

Haley acknowledged that many of the people she was speaking to are Trump supporters, saying,"It's not that I think there's anything wrong with Mr. Trump. He's a supporter. He supported me in my race. It's just lack of judgment."
