President Donald Trump feels "totally vindicated" by former FBI Director James Comey's opening statement released Wednesday, after reviewing it with his legal counsel, according to multiple reports.

The president's outside attorney, Marc Kasowitz, was prepared "to go to war" over Comey's testimony, according to Fox Business Network' Charles Gasparino on "Risk and Reward."

But the personal counsel released this statement Wednesday, according to reports.

"One of the toughest lawyers on Wall Street," Gasparino told host Liz Clayman of Kasowitz. "His plan on going to war with Comey, but after reading the statement itself, he feels he and his client, President Trump, feel pretty vindicated. 'Totally vindicated' was the word[s] we heard from inside the White House."

Later Wednesday, CNN host Wolf Blitzer read a direct text message from Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, regarding the Comey statement mention of the Russian dossier that alleged the Russians had compromising information on the president:

"Comey's statement released today needs to be carefully scrutinized, as his claims that the president was concerned about the dossier," Cohen said. "It must be noted that the dossier has been debunked by even the author himself, Christopher Steele."
