U.S. diplomat Bill Taylor and State Department official George Kent, the "star witnesses" on the first day of public impeachment hearings, never spoke with President Donald Trump or other key figures in his administration, and their testimony clearly shows how the process is unfair, Rep. Jim Jordan said Thursday.
"These are the first two star witnesses in the impeachment sham process they have going (and) neither talked to the president, to Mayor (Rudy) Giuliani, or Chief of Staff (Mick) Mulvaney," the Ohio Republican said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends."
During Wednesday's hearing, Jordan's questions ripped apart some of Taylor's key testimony.
Former Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, who Trump recalled in May, who is scheduled to testify Friday, alo has never met with Trump, Giuliani, or Mulvaney, Jordan said.
Meanwhile, Taylor said he did not want to be the key witness, said Jordan, but Democrats made him one.
"He did meet with (Ukraine) President (Volodymyr) Zelenskiy three times between when the aid was released, or when the aid was held and released in 55 days," said Jordan. "He met with President Zelenskiy three times, and never once was aid linked to the president, Burisma, Hunter Biden, or the Bidens themselves. Never once it came up."
And the "most important fact," Jordan said, was that Zelenskiy never announced or made a tweet saying he'd hold a press conference in order to get U.S. military aid to his country released.
In addition, Kent was "so nervous" about the perception of Hunter Biden being on the board of the Burisma energy company, not only because he is former Vice President Joe Biden's son, but because the company had "such a bad reputation," Jordan added.
Jordan also commented on House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, a Democrat, and the whistleblower whose report spurred the impeachment inquiry.
"We learned (Schiff) was not square with us when he said he hadn't talked with the whistleblower," said Jordan. "He met with Schiff's staff. I come back to 435 members of Congress, only one, one knows who the whistleblower is and one had members of their staff meet with him."
