Corruption has penetrated the Obama administration at levels that have never been seen before in American history, and Hillary Clinton is "the personification of that corruption," former House Speaker Newt Gingrich declared Friday morning, but she's being accepted by Americans living "in the age of the Kardashians."
"It has corrupted the FBI, the IRS, and the Veterans Administration is clearly corrupt," Gingrich, who has become one of GOP nominee Donald Trump's more vocal surrogates, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program.
"You go down the list. What the American people are facing is a genuine crisis in whether or not we're going to be a government in the rule of law, or we're going to decay like Venezuela. As long as you are powerful, you can get away with anything."
Clinton, he continued, has been able to raise huge amounts of money for her campaign from "presumably honest people who are willing to tolerate having a corrupt president because they think it's in their interests to do so."
Americans are willing to put up with corruption from their leaders because "we're in the age of the Kardashians," Gingrich said.
"We're in a period where you can do almost anything and get away with it," the former speaker said. "You can say almost anything and get away with it, and people are kind of numb."
"The school system has taught don't render judgment," said Gingrich. "You don't discriminate. Don't have a sense of right and wrong. Well, you've got two or three generations now that have been told, you shouldn't really be judgmental."
And Clinton's corruption, Gingrich claimed, is the worst in Washington's history.
"You can go back to the Harding administration in the 1920s, the Grant administration in the early 1870s, maybe a little bit of Truman in the late 1940s, none of those are like this," he told the program. "This is the most corrupt person ever to run for the presidency of the United States."
The corruption is coming from many directions, including the revelations from WikiLeaks, and Clinton's team's contempt for the law, he continued.
"Their willingness to lie, to run over the law, to subvert the justice system, and the damage [FBI Director James] Comey has done to the FBI may not be recoverable for a generation," said Gingrich.
"It's terrible to watch one of the great law enforcement institutions of all time decay into this kind of corrupt behavior, and there's no other way to describe it."
Gingrich also spoke out about increasing Obamacare premiums, saying he believes the left will be happy if the system collapses altogether, as "it will be their excuse to go to a British or Canadian-style government-run system, which is what they wanted all along."
"It's a level of dishonesty that is breathtaking," Gingrich said. "Richard Nixon must be looking down and wondering what he did wrong that he couldn't be as clever as these people who are at total dishonesty."
