GE CEO 'Disappointed' With Trump's Paris Accord Withdrawal

General Electric CEO Jeff Immelt said Thursday he does not agree with President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris climate agreement.

Immelt put his thoughts on Twitter shortly after Trump made the White House announcement.

Disappointed with today’s decision on the Paris Agreement. Climate change is real. Industry must now lead and not depend on government.

Immelt wrote to GE employees earlier this year that he believed climate change is a real threat and needs to be addressed.

"We believe climate change is real and the science is well accepted," Immelt wrote. "Our customers, partners and countries are demanding technology that generates power while reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency and reducing cost."
