Donald Trump's standing rose 4 points since last month's Republican presidential debate in the latest
Monmouth University poll released Thursday — and retired pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson jumped 13 points to second place.
Trump now leads at 30 percent among the 1,009 adults surveyed between Monday and Wednesday. Carson is next, with 18 percent, up by 13 points.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush slipped 4 points to third place, at 8 percent. He now is tied with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who was No. 3 in Monmouth's August poll, has fallen 8 points, to 3 percent.
Other top finishers were Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, at 5 percent, and both former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO Carly Fiorina and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, each at 4 percent.
The Monmouth poll has a margin of error of 5.1 percent.
