CNN analysts agreed with each other Sunday, ripping conservative media coverage of the latest migrant caravan from Mexico as "demagoguery," adding hyperbolic slams of "racism" and fearmongering, by mongering their own disdain of the opposition political position.
"It is demagoguery," CNN global affairs analyst Max Boot told CNN "Reliable Sources" host Brian Stelter on Sunday. "It is also, I believe, racism and nativism – really pandering to the fears of Trump supporters and Fox News viewers who tend to be older white males who are alarmed about the supposed invasion of dark-skinned newcomers coming to America."
Boot's rips of conservatism are common for him, as he proceeded to hype his book "The Corrosion of Conservatism: Why I Left the Right." He says he is now disgusted with conservatives.
"It was a conservative party with a white nationalist fringe, and under the impact of Fox News and Donald Trump, it has transformed into, essentially, a white nationalist party with a conservative fringe," he said.
Boot said immigration is no longer as big of a problem as it is made out to be, stressing the media should show how human those in the caravan are – something he believes a wide-angle view cannot do.
"If you just present the long shot and show the seething mob, you can get away with that kind of Fox News framing that these people are somehow a threat to us," Boot told Stelter.
