The more news that comes out, the worse the situation surrounding Hillary Clinton's private email server becomes worse, GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said Friday.

"The old adage comes to mind that the cover-up is worse than the crime," the former Hewlett-Packard CEO told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "She lied about her emails, she lied about her server, and she also lied about Benghazi. The more we hear, the worse this gets."

Story continues below video.

The latest news is that the server that was turned over on Wednesday was blank and wiped clean, and Fiorina pointed out that it had gone to a private IT company, which "spent time from 2013 on making sure the server was clean."

The former secretary of state's decision to use a private server "may well turn out to be criminal," Fiorina agreed, and it "certainly broke every rule in the book at the State Department."

"There's no question that she lied about this," Fiorina said. "There's also no question she was breaking the rules of her own State Department, which she reinforced with employees while there."

Fiorina said she knows, from serving on the CIA's advisory board, that the United States is aware that China and Russia has hacked into "our most sensitive data bases and government bases," and by using a personal email server, she put sensitive information at risk.

"On top of everything else, she was putting every bit of communication on that server at huge risk of being hacked by enemies, never mind protecting the information itself," said Fiorina. "That server was highly vulnerable. I'm pretty sure it got hacked."

Fiorina also commented on her rising poll numbers, saying she believes that she, along with other non-political candidates Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson, are doing well because "people are tired of politics and politicians."

"Whatever problem you hoped would be resolved the political class has failed you," she said. " People are saying we need a different leadership [to] translate a fancy speech into real results for the American people."
