Republican candidate Donald Trump Thursday accused conservative talk-show host Hugh Hewitt of asking him "gotcha" questions on foreign policy, but fellow contender Carly Fiorina answered them with little difficulty.

On his radio show, Hewitt asked Trump about Gen. General Qasem Soleimani, the leader of the Quds Force in Iran, and about other top Mideast officials — and Trump attacked him.

"Well, that is a 'gotcha' question, though, you know, when you’re asking me whose running this, this, this," Trump told Hewitt.

He then posed similar questions to Fiorina later Thursday. The former Hewlett-Packard Co. CEO said that she was familiar with Soleimani.

After asking Hewitt to be more specific, he then asked whether the Quds' behavior would be affected by the Iran nuclear deal.

Here's how Fiorina responded:

"Of course. There’s no doubt. There’s no doubt. Look, we know that the general of the Quds force has been a powerful tool of the Iranian regime to sow conflict. We also know that the Quds forces are responsible for the deaths and wounding of American soldiers. We also that the Quds forces have been in Syria and a whole bunch of other countries in the Middle East."

Hewitt later explained that Trump had attacked what he called were "gotcha" questions. Fiorina, however, disagreed.

"I don’t think they're 'gotcha' questions at all," she told Hewitt.

"The questions you’re asking are at the heart of the threat that we face, that our ally, Israel, faces, that the world faces," Fiorina said.

"It is critically important that we have a leader in the White House who understands the world and who’s in it and how it works."
