Former national security adviser John Bolton had a meeting in August with President Donald Trump over withheld  military aid to Ukraine, a former National Security Council official has testified to impeachment inquiry investigators.

In a transcript posted by CNN that was released by House impeachment investigators Saturday, Tim Morrison, who had served as the top Russia and Europe adviser, described the conversation as “one on one.”

"The President was not yet ready to approve the release of the assistance," Morrison testified Oct. 31 about the Bolton-Trump meeting, The Hill reported.

“The extent of my recollection is that Ambassador Bolton simply said he wasn’t ready to do it.”

Bolton left the White House in September.

Morrison also testified that ambassador Gordon Sondland plead a central role in pushing Ukraine to conduct political investigations as a condition for getting the congressionally approved military aid.

“My concern was what Gordon was proposing about getting the Ukrainians pulled into our politics,” Morrison said. He added: “It was the first time something like this had been injected as a condition on the release of the assistance.”
