Leftist New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo and his appointed Parole Board are releasing cop killers.
Black Liberation Army assassins Herman Bell, Anthony Bottom, and Albert Washington ambushed and executed New York City Police Officers Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones in 1971. Bell later led a raid on a Police Precinct in San Francisco, California, killing Police Officer Sgt. John Young. Bell was apprehended in New Orleans, tried, and sentenced to 25 years to life. Bell was released on April 27 of this year.
Cuomo’s leftist parole board is also releasing BLA cop killer Robert Hayes who murdered NYPD Transit Officer Sidney Thompson on a subway platform in the Bronx in 1973; he is expected to be released around July 24.
Two other cop assassins: Eddie Matos, who was committing a burglary and was chased by NYPD Officer Anthony Dwyer to a roof. Matos pushed the officer into an airshaft, and officer Dwyer died a painful, agonizing death on Oct 17, 1989. Black Liberation Army member Anthony Bottom was also one of the assassins with Bell in the murder of NYPD Officers Piagentini and Jones. Both are now up for parole and expected to be released.
In New Jersey, another state run by leftist Democrats, are going to release Teddy Rose who shot and killed my friend and fellow Irvington Police Officer Anthony Garaffa on August 9, 1984. Garaffa responded to a burglary call and approached Rose who was holding a bag and then shot Garaffa with a shotgun blast from 6 feet away; Garaffa was able to crawl to the radio car and call for help and later died. Rose is up for parole in June of this year and expected to be released mid-July.
Before NYPD, I was an Irvington police officer from 1978-1982 and had a run in with Rose.
He approached me in Irvington while walking my beat sometime around 1980, he walked up to me and said: “What would you do if I took that gun away from you and shot you.” I was shocked that this guy would do something like that. I replied you couldn’t do it and if you tried, I would put a bullet in your head. He then walked away. I often think about that day and wish that Rose tried to make a move on me if he had I believe Tony may be alive today. He was a friend and a brother cop.
California Assembly members and cop haters Shirley Weber and Kevin McCarty, both Democrats in San Diego, introduced a bill that removes the “reasonable” standard to a “when necessary” standard when an officer uses deadly force.
This bill means any police shooting will be second-guessed by leftist Democrats or a prosecutor who has no idea about the threats a police officer faces on the street. This law will endanger the lives of police officers and the citizens they are sworn to protect. If this law passes, every California cop should consider becoming a cop in another state. More and more crime loving and cop hating Democrats are taking tools away from the police that not only endanger the officer's lives but the communities. Eventually, Democrats will make it impossible for officers to do their job! Democrats won’t be happy until nobody wants to be a cop, then things might change because it will be their neighborhoods that will be infested with crime.
These prove that the war on cops perpetrated by leftist Democrats is still being waged. Democrats keep on making police officers jobs even harder and believe that police officers lives are worthless. This pattern of anti-cop behavior by Democratic politicians is systemic and whenever they get a chance they keep planting landmines for police officers in Democratically run states. What is a police officer's life worth these days? Apparently not much to the Democrats!
