Iran Free to Pursue Nuclear Weapons

The devil this time isn’t in the details, as the cliché says. The devil is quite apparent, clear, and dangerous. There are no details hidden. It is all right in front of you.

The news dispatches heralding the agreement between world powers and Iran — yes, that rogue Iran that funds and trains terrorists — saved the best for last. In the last paragraph of The New York Times’ story it stated there would be no requirement for Iran to adhere to the no-nonsense guidelines and standards of the international community. And in return for ignoring those conditions, Iran would have billions pumped into its economy.

It requires no leap into sane reasoning to conclude that those newly found, once-sanctioned dollars will help Iran build an economy that can sustain or even expand a nuclear program.

Obama supporters will decry the criticism although not with the same intensity used to protect him in the past. He is too wounded by his own domestic foibles. Those most frightened will explode likely into anger screaming of the impending doom of the world.

Realists will pause to see what the satrategic end game might be with Iran, whose leadership has called for the destruction of the United States and referred to the extraordinary nation, as the great Satan. In the battle between good and evil as the Iranians see it there can be no greater curse.

This administration, in its most basic way, has decided that amnesia makes for good international politics and security. We are allowed to forget the hostage crisis, the violation of international law, the murders of hundreds in terrorist attacks believed to be funded or sponsored by Iran.

We must forget the slaughter of millions in the Iran-Iraq war. Syria? Forget that too, as the refugee numbers swell and predict the destabilization throughout the Middle East. We, America, must forget murder, destruction, and hate.

The problem is that ancient cultures such as the Iranians forget nothing. They believe their moment is coming. And that will be when the great Satan is destroyed. The hidden Madi will appear and they the Iranians will dominate. They do not suffer from amnesia. And that is something Americans should begin to remember.
