During the Kavanaugh confirmation proceedings, Democrats not only portrayed Kavanaugh as a monstrous drunk, they insisted he was guilty of sexual predator charges even though there was no corroborating evidence. Constitutional guarantees of due process and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty were dismissed as misguided relics from America’s racist founding.
Before these radicals commence another reign of terror driven by Saul Alinsky’s rule of ethics which holds “in [political] war the end justifies any means,” they might contemplate the words Republican U.S. Senate candidate Abraham Lincoln expressed in his first debate with Democrat Stephen Douglas held in Ottawa, Illinois, on August 21, 1858. Answering scurrilous charges hurled at him by Douglas, Lincoln said:
"Now I have no means of totally disproving such charges as this which the Judge makes. A man cannot prove a negative, but he has a right to claim that when a man makes an affirmative charge, he must offer some proof to show the truth of what he says. I certainly cannot introduce testimony to show the negative about things, but I have a right to claim that if a man says he knows a thing, then he must show how he knows it. I always have a right to claim this, and it is not satisfactory to me that he may be 'conscientious' on the subject."
Do you think the Dems will heed Lincoln’s words? Probably not. Why? Because Lincoln is merely a dead white man.
What is also interesting about the Lincoln-Douglas debates was the good-naturedness of the two candidates for the U.S. Senate.
Even though they vehemently disagreed over the most important issue in our nation’s history — slavery — they were civil. And, the tens of thousands that came out to hear them behaved well.
Two years later, after Lincoln beat Douglas in the presidential race, the Senator was civil and gracious in defeat. Hoping to calm pro-slavery Democrats calling for secession, Douglas said: “This is no time to despair or despond … let us lay aside all partisan feeling and let us become patriots and lovers of our country…. Let no grievances, no embittered feelings impair the force of our efforts.”
Compare that call for unity and civility to recent rants of Democrats:
Hillary Clinton: “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about. That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again.”
Senator Maxine Walters: “…if you see anybody from [the Trump] cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”
Obama Attorney General Eric Holder: “When they go low, kick them.”
Such “uncivil hypocrisy,” columnist Michael Goodwin concluded, is “a declaration of war and a license for violence.”
There’s more. Democrats are calling for articles of the Constitution, crafted by the founders to prevent mob rule, to be repealed.
The poster child of the “Socialist” Democratic Party, Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez, has called for the elimination of the Electoral College. Here’s her puerile reasoning: “It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic.”
If the Electoral College is truly a “shadow of slavery’s power,” Abraham Lincoln would have lost the 1860 presidential election.
That year there were three pro-slavery candidates running against Republican Abraham Lincoln: Democrat Stephen Douglas, who received 29.46 percent of the vote; Southern Democrat John C. Breckinridge, who garnered 18.09 percent; and Constitutional Union candidate John Bell, whose vote totaled 12.61 percent.
While Lincoln won only 39.82 percent of the vote, the Electoral College awarded him 180 out of 303 total electoral votes for a total of 60 percent. Ocasio-Cortez’s “racist” Electoral College chose the man who abolished slavery.
Today’s radical as well as mainstream Democrats are unhinged because they honestly believe they are entitled to hold office. And because unenlightened, ordinary people have rejected at the ballot box their self-proclaimed right to rule, they have displayed their contempt for the Constitution’s prescribed electoral process by urging their deluded stooges to harass opponents.
Don’t be surprised if the incivility of the lunatic fringe of the Democratic Party goes off the charts if the election results on November 6 do not break their way. Mobs of hysterical crackpots could take to the streets, incite riots, defy law enforcement officials, and assault, not just harass, elected and appointed officials who dare to oppose them.
Farfetched? I think not.
