Voters in the November general election need to consider seriously that the viewpoints of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, if elected, would be potentially detrimental to unborn children in the United States --- and also to those globally.
Sister Deirdre Byrne, who previously served as a surgeon, Army officer and missionary, alerted the nation during her address at the Republican National Convention, "As followers of Christ, we are called to stand up for life against the politically correct or fashionable of today. We must fight against a legislative agenda that supports and even celebrates destroying life in the womb. Keep in mind, the laws we create define how we see our humanity."
Sister Deirdre is right.
The deaths of countless unborn children could be a predictable consequence if Biden is elected president. The former vice president and senator used to pay some lip service to the sanctity of life. Not anymore.
When it comes to what Pope John Paul II once termed called "the culture of death," Biden now seems to be supportive in that regard.
He — and his running mate — have bragged for months that they will aggressively push and prioritize unfettered access to abortion everywhere and will force taxpayers to pay for it.
Doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers who object to participation in abortion?
Tough luck, they don’t believe in "conscience rights" either.
The Democratic Platform is harsh and extreme — lacking any little in the way of empathy whatsoever for helpless chidren. The platform even calls for ending the Hyde Amendment, a ban on public funding for abortion that has saved more than two million children’s lives over the past four and one-half decades.
The platform also demands the repeal of restrictions on Title X funds and the subsidization of Planned Parenthood.
The Biden team seeks to comprehensively overturn every federal and state law, including women’s right-to-know laws and waiting periods, that have protected some unborn children and their mothers from abortion.
They want to remove the right of states to enact modest laws on abortion by codifying Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) and oppose FDA regulations on abortion-inducing drugs, believing that women and adolescent girls need to be able to destroy the lives of their unborn children in order to be "empowered."
They cynically dismiss all pro-life laws as "barriers to women’s reproductive health and rights."
Many Americans don’t want to fund abortion in our foreign aid programs but the international anti-abortion policies of President Trump, including the Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance, are marked for immediate repeal.
U.S. foreign assistance funds would then flow to international organizations that perform or promote abortion, including to abortion industry giants International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and Marie Stopes International.
The half-century-old Helms Amendment preventing U.S. funding of abortion as a method of family planning also would be abolished.
Underscoring Biden’s near-existential threat to unborn babies’ lives, 90 leading pro-abortion organizations, including the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Catholics for Choice, Guttmacher Institute, Human Rights Watch, NARAL Pro-Choice America, National Abortion Federation, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, have issued their list of demands for the Biden administration in "First Priorities for the Blueprint for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice."
These demands, which Biden will no doubt accept and implement, reveal an even darker impact of a Biden win, a harbinger of an administration’s disregard, indifference, and hostility toward innocent babies.
On day one, the abortion rights activists are demanding that Biden issue an executive order unequivocally stating his commitment to abortion in the U.S. and globally, and his opposition to anti-abortion laws and regulations.
They demand that he announce that he's lifting restrictions on funding to international organizations that perform or promote abortion; that the FDA’s in-person dispensing requirement for mifepristone, the first drug in the RU 486 abortion regime, is removed; and that all executive departments and agencies eliminate all anti-abortion policies and regulations listed and labeled as "harmful" in the blueprint.
The extensive list of polices, regulations, and legislation is only "harmful" to one group: Unborn children.
For them, the agenda, enacted in whole or part, is deadly.
My many voters take inspiration from Sister Deirdre Byrne to "stand up for life" and "fight against a legislative agenda that supports and even celebrates destroying life in the womb."
May they oppose a presidential ticket that will be detrimental to unborn children.
Fr. Frank Pavone is one of the most prominent anti-abortion leaders in the world. He became a Catholic priest in 1988 under Cardinal John O’Connor in New York. In 1993 he became the fulltime National Director of Priests for Life. He is also the President of the National Pro-life Religious Council, and the National Pastoral Director of the Silent No More Campaign and of Rachel’s Vineyard, the world’s largest ministry of healing after abortion. He travels the nation assisting pro-life advocates to end abortion, and broadcasts regularly on television, radio, and internet. Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. John Paul II, and the Trump Campaign are among those who have sought his input on pro-life matters. He has helped foster the anti-abortion activities of the Catholic Church worldwide by having served at the Vatican as an official of the Pontifical Council for the Family and a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
