Jindal Rightly Declares Shariah 'Oppressive, Wrong'

President Obama gives his State of the Union tonight and Iowa’s new Republican Sen. Joni Ernst will respond.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal sort of did that yesterday, however, in remarks in London. He spoke truthfully about something the president will surely misrepresent tonight: the threat we face from Islamic supremacists. Yes, Islamic supremacists.

For six years, Mr. Obama has told us that Islam is a peaceful religion and that Muslims who engage in violence are trying to “hijack it.”

Gov. Jindal accurately, and courageously, called authoritative Islam’s ideology of Shariah, “oppressive and wrong.” He said, “A so-called religion that allows for and endorses killing those who oppose it is not a religion at all; it is a terrorist movement.”

Our union’s state depends, in part, on dealing honestly with such a terrorist movement.
