Donald Trump tells Newsmax he “loves” Facebook but he is glad he didn’t invest heavily in the firm’s Initial Public Offering.
“I wouldn’t want to buy too much,” he says in an exclusive interview. “I was actually going to buy a pretty big chunk and then sell immediately upon opening because these companies tend to open strong. But they didn’t allow that because the regulations didn’t allow me to buy because of my activity in the market, which is ridiculous.
“They might have done be a big favor, though. I would have put a lot of money in, and if they didn’t sell quickly enough, the stock went down.
“I love Facebook. I love what they do, but I’m not a believer in that. I like something hard. I love real estate. I love something you can touch and feel.”
Trump says he uses Facebook in his marketing campaigns.
“We use Facebook, and we use all forms of technology and we’re very heavy into the Internet. I can see why they’re taking over newspapers. Look at Newsmax and the great job that Newsmax does. It’s amazing. This is based on modern-day technology. What Chris Ruddy and the people at Newsmax have done is amazing, and very much based on modern-day technology."
The problem with Facebook: “My wife (Melania Trump) is very much into the computer and Internet, and she said to me it’s really good; I really like it, but someone’s going to come up with something better soon. That’s not very inspiring. And then you see companies like General Motors announce they are not going advertise on Facebook. It’s not something I want to bank on.”
