Larry Kudlow: Negotiations on NAFTA 'Going Well'

President Donald Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, on Wednesday said negotiations on NAFTA were, "going well," but wouldn't discuss them further during an interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox News.

"That's about as much as I can say," Kudlow said during a wide-ranging interview where he discussed China, Amazon and President Donald Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminum.

Earlier in the day, Kudlow told reporters that they would see some "positive news" on NAFTA soon.

"Don't hold me to the timing here, but I think you're going to see some positive news on NAFTA and maintaining NAFTA and reforming NAFTA and I think the stock market is going to love that," he said.

Trump earlier this week threatened to dismantle NAFTA if Mexico didn't do a better job of policing its border with Central America. Negotiations on changing the landmark trade pact between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada have continued for more than a year without a final compromise.

On trade, Kudlow tabbed Trump as a "free-trader," but Cavuto deferred.

"The path to free trade has got to center on fixing these unfair and illegal trade practices," Kudlow responded.
