Elon Musk shot back at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez', R-N.Y., attack on billionaire media moguls, hedge fund managers and his pending Twitter purchase for $44 billion with a Tweet of his own: "Stop hitting on me, I'm really shy," followed by a smiley-face emoji. This is
according to the New York Post.
AOC recently said Republicans who criticize her on Twitter really just want to date her.
On Friday, AOC posted: "Tired of having to collectively stress about what explosion of hate crimes is happening bc some billionaire with an ego problem unilaterally controls a massive communication platform [Twitter] and skews it because [Fox TV host] Tucker Carlson or [venture capitalist] Peter Thiel took him to dinner and made him feel special."
Although Musk was not personally named in the Tweet, he appeared to take AOC's message to heart.
AOC retorted: "I was talking about [Meta founder Mark] Zuckerberg but ok," which she took down about a minute later.
Twitter accepted Musk's takeover offer last week for $44 billion, igniting a debate over free speech, social media algorithms that reportedly exclude conservative voices and the 2024 midterm elections.
