Tuesday, 04 May 2010 04:54 PM

A small explosion occurred as ground crews worked to remove a smoking piece of luggage being unloaded from a plane that just had landed at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston Tuesday afternoon, authorities told several news outlets.

No injuries were reported in the 2 p.m. incident as luggage on the jet from Amsterdam was being unloaded, according to a Fox News TV affiliate in Houston.

As crew members worked to remove the smoking blue container, they heard a “pop” and more smoke poured out.

Several law and emergency agencies, including the Houston Fire Department, responded to the scene.

Aerial views from local station Fox 26’s SkyFox showed a couple dozen officers and emergency responders at the scene.

No further details were released as authorities investigated.
