Hormel Foods Corp., the company that produces Spam, is recalling some of its pork and chicken products that may be contaminated with pieces of metal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Safety Inspection Service announced Saturday

The products, 12-oz. metal cans of "Spam Classic" and "Hormel Foods Black-Label Luncheon Loaf" with a "Best By" February 2021 date, were shipped throughout the United States and to Guam.

Hormel first reported FSIS about complaints of metal products in cans last Thursday. The canned pork and chicken were produced between Feb. 8-10.

"FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ food pantries," the USDA says. "Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."
