The Retirement Housing Foundation is a faith-based nonprofit
that provides housing for seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families that was founded in 1961 by two ministers and a layman. RHF is a member of UCC's Council for Health and Human Service Ministries.
Today, RHF also works to create local communities around the nation for assisted living, respite care, skilled nursing, memory care, and affordable housing for families, among others. It provides development and building services as well as site management.

Though RHF is headquarted in Long Beach, California, it has residential communities in 28 states, along with Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, D.C. The nonprofit organization claims its communities house more than 19,000 residents and employ close to 2,900 workers. However, not all of its communities offer the same services, so contact a local community for information on the services and housing it provides.
RHF communites are funded with private donations in addition to Housing and Urban Development grants to provide care to residents on fixed or limited incomes. According to Rev. Dr. Laverne Joseph, president and CEO, that funding is essential to its mission.
"Without the generosity of our benefactors, we would be unable to do a lot of what we do. Retirement Housing Foundation needs the ongoing support of community businesses and organizations to maintain our quality services, and to continue offering affordable housing services to those who need it. A donation to RHF Foundation, Inc. helps us provide the best care available to the rapidly growing senior population," said Joseph.
