Carol Roth - Biography
Carol Roth is a national media personality, ‘recovering’ investment banker, dealmaker, investor, speaker and author of the New York Times bestselling book, The Entrepreneur Equation. Currently, Carol is an on-air contributor to CNBC and previously hosted The Noon Show, a current events talk show on WGN Radio. She has also been a public company director (NASD: TZOO). Roth began her career at investment banking firm Montgomery Securities (subsequently Banc of America Securities), where she rapidly rose internally to become one of the youngest officers of the company by age 25. She also owned her own broker-dealer, Intercap Merchant Partners, which has been since converted into a holding company for her varied business and investment activities. Her strengths lie in strategy, monetization and problem solving. Roth has worked with hundreds of companies, ranging from a single entrepreneur with an idea to Fortune 500 businesses, on all aspects of business and financial strategy. Collectively, she has helped her clients complete more than $2 billion in transactions. Her experience has encompassed a wide variety of products and services, including initial public offerings, secondary offerings, private equity placements, private debt placements, buy-side M&A, sell-side M&A, LBOs/MBOs, recapitalizations, valuations, fairness opinions, licensing, marketing services, franchise work, start-up advisory and general strategic advisory work. Roth has completed licenses and joint ventures between her clients and a variety of high profile entities including Paramount, Disney, Hasbro and even the pop singer Katy Perry. Roth is a noted small business advocate as well and was named a Top 100 Small Business Influencer for 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014 by Small Biz Trends. She holds a B.S. Degree from the Wharton School of Business, Magna Cum Laude. Carol has been married to her husband, Kurt, since 1999. She’s a huge sports fan (especially of NFL Football) and also has an action figure made in her own likeness.
