President Donald Trump vowed his new workers’ council will help fill 3.7 million jobs

"We have tremendous numbers of people who really are phenomenal in every way but they're not trained and they're not qualified," Trump told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Friday. 

"We need people with skill. We need people who are trained. It's much different than it was 30 years ago and 40 years ago. We need people who can go out there and do it.”

And the president noted: “We’re talking about almost 4 million jobs.”

Trump signed an executive order on Thursday establishing the National Council for the American Worker.

The initiative would recruit U.S. companies and other groups in developing and re-training Americans for vacancies in a range of professions and trades.

Home Depot, Microsoft, General Motors and Walmart are included in the companies signing a pledge committing to creating job opportunities over the next five years, CNBC reported. It noted Walmart has committed to training 1 million people.

The workers’ council is headed by White House adviser Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter.
