Sixty-two percent of truckers say they are not more confident about the economy than they were three months ago, according to a new survey.
The third quarter survey, conducted by Cowen, was detailed by the Business Insider on Thursday.
Last quarter, 48% expressed pessimism, compared to 52% who said they were confident in the direction of the economy.
Cowen analysts noted that "continued tariff talk, no trade deal with China and mounting tension in the Middle East over oil" were responsible for the carrier outlooks, according to Business Insider.
Still, less than a third of those surveyed said they expected a macro-recession to hit the economy in the next six months.
