Larry Kudlow, President Donald Trump’s director of the National Economic Council, said Sunday the administration will go to Congress this week with “a number of new proposals” to bolster the coronavirus-battered airline industry.

In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Kudlow said the Trump administration also aims to help out struggling Americans.

“By executive order, I reckon, [Trump] will defer the interest on student loans for the rest of the year,” he said, adding “we are purchasing 75 million barrels for the strategic petroleum reserve.”

“We’re talking to the airlines,” he said, declaring, “We will go up to the Hill this week, we will have a number of new proposals.”

“We have issues on the whole leisure [industry],” he said.

“This is not a story of years, this is a story of weeks and months,” Kudlow said, predicting “by the end of the year we will be back to a strong economy.”

According to Kudlow, supply lines are still strong amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“I’ve read about some situations,” he said, but asserted “most of our supply lines are working well…”

“There’s a huge economic challenge here,” he conceded, but said “most Americans are still working.”

Yet, he allowed, “the employment story may become more tenuous” as the virus outbreak widens.

Kudlow said the administration’s stimulus bill is “not perfect” but takes care of average Americans.

“The Senate is going to work on it tomorrow,” he said.

“The an urgency to this, something we pushed from the very beginning. It’s about helping families and middle class and blue collar type folks,” he said.
