Damage from deadly Hurricane Florence is likely to rack up a bill in the “billions of dollars” to the Tar Heel state, North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis said Sunday.

In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Tillis predicted Florence is likely going to produce impacts greater than Hurricane Matthew, which struck the state two years ago.

“The agriculture industry, the largest industry in our state is hard-hit,” he said. “We will have to sort out the crop damage. The floods that are going to come… midweek are likely to be as damaging or more damaging than the original event. So we got to sort all that out.

“I think that it's fair to say in terms of economic impact [and] rebuilding that we are talking in the billions of dollars,” he declared.
